364-day treasury bill, bought through Petra

12.97%

The Bank of Ghana has taken its policy rate from 28% to 14%, and analysts expect further cuts before year-end. Auction yields move week to week, but the trend over eighteen months is one way. For capital sitting in call accounts or rolling short, every re-investment now happens at whatever the market offers on that day. A 364-day placement settles the question for a full year. The rate is fixed on the day you buy, and the next cut, whenever it comes, is priced into someone else's money, not yours.

This is not a projection of future rates. It is the case for deciding your rate once, rather than fifty-two times a year.

Two ways to put capital to work on a fixed term

Both arranged through Petra Securities SEC-licensed, Licensed dealing Member of the Ghana Stock Exchange.

Treasury Bills

  • Government of Ghana paper, held in your name.
  • 91, 182 and 364-day terms
  • From GHS 500
  • Up to 12.97% (24 July 2026)

The rate is set on the day you buy, and it holds to maturity. You know what you will receive and when, the auction next Friday is no longer your concern.

Fixed Deposits

  • Curated placement across our partner banks.
  • 91 days to 1 year.
  • Terms discussed against your position, not read off a product sheet.

At a certain portfolio size, the conversation changes. It is less about chasing the highest number in the market and more about knowing what your capital is doing: defined terms, staggered maturity, capital spread across selected issuers rather than concentrated in one. We structure placements around when you need liquidity and how you want risk distributed, and because of the sum involved, we discuss terms directly with the bank's treasury desk on your behalf. What you're quoted reflects your position at the time of placement.
